  • Job Description

Deliver meals to guests at home, and provide transportation for guests to and from the dinner.

    • Volunteers need to approach the back of the La Crosse Center from the south on Front Street in their vehicles.  A single file line of volunteer vehicles will form on Front Street inside of an area designated by traffic cones to await direction into the parking lot where meals will be delivered to the vehicles by other volunteers.
    • Volunteers will need to remain in their vehicles and have a sign prepared to indicate a preferred delivery location. Please create your own sign that is big enough to be seen from the outside of the vehicle. The signs should read one of the following locations: Holmen, Onalaska, West Salem, Northside La Crosse, Downtown La Crosse, Southside La Crosse, Trempealeau, or La Crescent.
    • Some guests will require transportation to/from the La Crosse Center; we understand that not all volunteers are able to provide this service due to the size of their cars, number of volunteers already in the car, and time restraints.  If you are available to provide this service as well as deliver meals, please indicate that on your car sign. If you are only providing transportation services to guests, you may park and come in to the La Crosse Center and you will be assigned as needed.
    • General directions will be available, but knowledge of the delivery areas would be beneficial and personal GPS systems or cellular phone mapping features would be highly recommended.
    • Meals will be brought to your car by transportation staff along with the address you will be delivering to.  (Addresses will be matched with the location on the sign you have prepared.)  We will make every attempt to accommodate the delivery drivers with addresses in their preferred locations, but this is not always possible depending on the location of remaining deliveries.
    • Each meal contains two containers: one hot and one cold. (If you are delivering 5 meals you will have 10 containers.)
    • After receiving the meals to be delivered, the transportation volunteers will direct you out of the La Crosse Center parking lot northbound.
    • Deliver meals.
    • If you receive a donation from someone, it needs to be returned to the La Crosse Center transportation staff.
    • When you are finished delivering your meals, you may check back to see if more meals need to be delivered.
